Dog Treats

You may have heard the phrase "Dog Treats" at some point in your dog's life. In addition to making their owners very happy, these treats are also excellent for your pet. While there are many treats that are available in supermarkets, you can always make them at home yourself. You will need a few basic supplies, like one measuring cup, two cups of rawhide (beef, lamb or chicken), and a large spoon.

For the Dog Biscuit Mix, make a batch of your favorite dry dog biscuit mix, such as a dog biscuit mix from the supermarket. Then, take this mix and add a couple of tablespoons of raw ground beef. Don't forget the tablespoon of garlic salt you added. You can add more, but you'll want to control the texture. To make sure the mixture sticks to the spoon, give it a slight shake before adding it to the mixing bowl.

Add the chopped up rawhide and, if you want, the chopped up chicken to the mix. Mix thoroughly and put into containers to be placed into the freezer. Keep in mind that some treats may thaw out faster than others.

You can use any rawhide to make this food, although sheepskin is recommended as a smaller dog treat. The same concept applies for a small dog, as small dogs have shorter digestive tracts and may have a harder time digesting the treats than larger dogs.

Now comes the fun part, creating the "Dog Biscuit Mix". To do this, open a large mixing bowl, grab the larger measuring cup, and pour about half of the mix into the cup. Then add the other half of the mix, and do the same with the second cup of the rawhide.

Next, grab your smaller measuring cup and pour the half of the mix into the cup, then pour the rest of the mix into the smaller cup. Do the same thing with the other small mixing bowl, making sure each container is full.

Once the dog biscuit mix is done, close your cups and freeze them. It's important to keep them frozen, so the cold has time to work into the treats before your pet eats them. When your dog is hungry, he'll grab the treats to help him stay alive.

Now, to make the Dog Biscuit Mix, simply add a tablespoon of your favorite raw ground beef. Stir well, and then add the garlic salt. As with the other treats, keep the treats in the freezer until your dog is hungry.

If you want your dog treats to last longer, you can freeze them for an hour or so, then take them out. When your dog wants them, he'll still be full from the food he ate, so you won't have to worry about the treats being cold.

If you want your dog treats to last even longer, you can make them one hour before you serve them. Make sure you have plenty of warm water handy, and add one tablespoon of the mix to the bowl of water.

Most dog biscuits made with rawhide require a cooking method that minimizes the chance of them sticking together. So, when you're making your own treats, remember to remove them from the packaging.
